Saif Ali Khan stabbed during attempted robbery at his Mumbai residence; admitted to hospital

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was injured in a knife attack by an intruder at his house in Mumbai, police said on Thursday (January 16). He is admitted hospitalised at Lilavati Hospital and currently undergoing surgery. The incident reportedly took place at 2:30 am on Thursday.

According to the police, an unknown person entered the actor’s residence and argued with his maid, late last night. When the actor tried to intervene and pacify the man, he attacked Khan and injured him. “We are investigating the matter. The Mumbai crime branch is conducting a parallel investigation into the incident,” a police official said.

Lilavati Hospital chief operating officer Niraj Uttamani said Khan was hospitalised at 3:30am with six injuries of which two are deeper. According to Dr Niraj Uttamani, COO of Lilavati Hospital, said, “Saif was attacked by an unidentified person in his house. He was brought in at 3:30 am in Lilavati. He has six injuries, two of which are deeper. One of the injuries is closer to his spine. We are operating on him. He is being operated upon by Neurosurgeon Nitin Dange, cosmetic surgeon Leena Jain, and anaesthetist Nisha Gandhi. We will be tell the extent of the damage only after the surgery is done.”
